Eternia Times Three?

I have always loved the title card images as I thought that they were very atmospheric. I even included my scan of the Mysterious Forest title card on the banner! I will talk in-depth about the title cards as a collective some other time, but for now I just wanted to focus on the title card that featured the planet Eternia. Did you know that there were three versions of this one particular title card? The first appeared in "Diamond Ray of Disappearance" and numerous other episodes. The second which first appeared in "A Beastly Sideshow" retained the same image of Eternia, but they altered the position of the stars. This is because Eternia is actually painted on a cel! The third and final image, which appeared in season two's "Day of the Machines", remained until the end and was the same as the original title card. BUT if you compare the first and third images, you will see that the artists created a painted overlay for Eternia; shading the left hand side of the planet, and increasing the red glow to the right.

Orko's comic strip #28

Almost every issue of the UK Masters of the Universe comic featured an Orko comic strip on the inside front cover. As this Blog continues I will try and feature all of them for your amusement. Here I present the "Orko the Magician" comic strip from issue twenty-eight. Enjoy Orko once again confusing his fellow Eternians!

The Power Blade!

Another day, another Ladybird book image by Robin Davies, this time from the Masters of the Universe book "Skeletor's Ice Attack" featuring Prince Adam holding the Sword of Power across his chest, or as the books described it, the Power Blade!

The Master with Three Faces #1

I am a HUGE fan of the Netherlands Masters of the Universe comics, specifically the comics published by SBP! Now, I do not speak Dutch at all, but over the years I have conversed with many fans that do, and have come to understand the stories that were published. I always found the comics to be extremely odd and, at times, very different when compared to the more familiar stories published by the major comic companies. In 1988 London Edition Comics, the company that produced the Masters of the Universe comic in the UK, collected a few of these stories, translated them into English, and released them together in one special. Here I present the first three pages of "The Master with Three Faces"; a unique tale focusing on the conflict between Man-E-Faces split personalities!

Ladybird Transformation!

Here is a lovely image by Robin Davies from the Masters of the Universe Ladybird book "The Iron Master" showing the transformation sequence. I actually really like the simplicity of the power of Grayskull that surrounds He-Man in this image.

Clash of the Titans!

This is one of my favorite pieces of Ed McGuinness artwork that appeared in an issue of Wizard as part of the magazine's "Last Man Standing" many years ago. The style and energy of this image always brings a smile to my face!

Big Briefs in 2007! :)

Happy New Year! :)

I hope you have all recovered from welcoming 2007 into your lives. I myself have only been conscious for a few hours, so bear with me as I attempt to type these paragraphs...

Yes, YEAR TWO of the He-Man and She-Ra Blog begins right here! I hope you like the brand new banner - And what better way to start than by discussing something very odd...

I was watching the He-Man season two episode "Mistaken Identity" a while back and came up with a question that I do not think can be answered by any sane person. In this episode He-Man battles an enormous creature which Modulok refers to as Grabber. The image below is ideal in illustrating the point I am about to make; how does a creature of this size, with little intelligence, who likes nothing more than to smash things, obtain a pair of briefs of that size?!
