The art of silence...

Here are two more great-looking Bruce Timm panels from "The Search for Keldor" minicomic. Ninjor was a character that was rarely ever used correctly in his brief appearances, but this one minicomic did give the character some endearing evil qualities and skills. I do like the irony in that he claims that Clamp Champ will not hear the arrow until it is too late only for the panel to be accompanied by a "Whssss!" sound effect! One other thing, what do we think Clamp Champ is doing in that first panel?

She-Ra Advert!

This rare She-Ra advert was not available to members of the public and was designed by the artists at Filmation in an effort to sell the series. What I like about this piece is that She-Ra's pose is reminiscent of an exciting comic book running pose, something that would not be seen in the actual She-Ra series. Also note that the jewel on She-Ra's tiara is more detailed than it would ever appear in the series...

Modulok and the Horde Scientist...

In the season one episode "Small Problems" Modulok was originally scripted to be in the role of the Horde Scientist, and even though the script requested the change it was never established during production. This may have been due to the complications resulting from Modulok’s multiple appearances and roles throughout the She-Ra series which J. Michael Straczynski attempted to stay on top of...

Trap Jaw escaping!

In this panel from "The Menace of Trap Jaw!" we see Skeletor and Trap Jaw meeting for the first time. Even though Trap Jaw's design was very different to what we became accustomed to, I still think that it was an impressive design, which may surprise many as the Filmation version of Trap Jaw is probably one of my all time favorite character designs! I like the fact that in this panel we see Trap Jaw making use of the loop on the top of his head, something which was rarely ever seen...

Covered in cake!

Here is an amusing illustration by Terry Gabbey from the last page of the Ladybird book "She-Ra and the surprise party". After attempting to steal the cake from Madame Razz's birthday party, Catra and Clawdeen make a quick getaway, only to be struck with a large piece of cake, given out of kindness by Madame Razz and her mixed-up magic...

THWOK!

In this beautiful action-packed Mark Texeira illustrated panel from the minicomic "The Terror of Tri-Klops!" we can see why the earlier minicomics are often regarded as the best! This panel also highlights the very elaborate and highly decorated costume that Tri-Klops sported in these DC minicomics. I always thought that the color scheme, detail and design of this costume were more befitting of a swordsman than the final design of the action figure...
